LAUSANNE, Switzerland -- The Court of Arbitration for Sport has reduced Jamaican sprinter Dominique Blakes doping ban from six years to four years and six months on appeal. Blake tested positive for methylhexaneamine, a banned stimulant, in June 2012 at the Jamaican Olympic trials. She had finished sixth in the 400 metres. Despite being a second doping offence, the CAS panel ruled that the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commissions initial six-year ban was "too severe." The period of ineligibility is back dated to July 2012 so Blake will not be able return to competition until the start of 2017. She previously served a nine-month ban after testing positive for ephedrine in 2006 at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Blake ran for Penn State University from 2004-08.
